Construction Machinery Buying Guide: Excavators, Loaders and Telehandlers

Construction machinery is a high-value purchase. The right choice depends on the job, site conditions, support network and full delivered cost. E10Shop helps buyers define a comparable request and identify potential suppliers; a listing here is not a confirmed stock offer.

Start with the job, not a headline price

Describe the work: excavation depth and reach, material density, lift height, daily operating hours, site access, ground conditions and expected transport. Give every supplier the same requirements so quotations can be compared fairly.

Excavators: what to specify

For an excavator, state operating weight class, required digging depth and reach, bucket size, undercarriage, hydraulic flow for attachments and whether a compact tail swing is needed. Ask which buckets, quick coupler and hydraulic lines are included. A machine with the right weight but the wrong attachment circuit may not do the work.

Wheel loaders: what to specify

State the material, target payload, bucket capacity, tipping load, lift height and turning space. Compare tire type, travel distance, fuel use under similar duty and visibility at the work site. Confirm whether forks or other tools are part of the quote.

Telehandlers: what to specify

State rated lift capacity at the required height and forward reach, plus the planned forks, bucket or lifting attachment. Capacity changes with boom position; request the correct load chart for the exact model and attachment. Ask about stabilisers, site clearance and operator training.

Compare the total delivered offer

Request the exact make, model, year and serial number for used machines, hours, inspection history, CE or other relevant documentation, included attachments, transport to your location, commissioning, taxes and payment schedule. For new equipment, ask for factory warranty terms and delivery lead time. A low machine price can lose its advantage once transport, service and parts are included.

Check the supplier before an order

Verify the legal seller, machine ownership, service coverage, parts lead time and who handles warranty claims. Ask for a written quotation and inspect the machine or obtain an independent inspection where practical. Payment, delivery, returns and warranty terms must be agreed directly with the actual seller.
